Most of the images on this site were made using a 4x5 view camera either the Toyo AII (flat-bed) or the Arca-Swiss F-Classic Field (monorail). Capable of producing stunning results, the film-based large format camera still remains a tool of choice for those wanting to push the limits of quality reproduction even in today's world of digital capture. Lenses used are Nikkor, Fujinon and Schneider, ranging in focal length from 75mm to 450mm. My tripod of choice has always been Gitzo. Filters are seldom used, and only then to compensate for the limitations of film to record certain high-contrast situations or to reduce glare. For film, I use Fuji Velvia (QuickLoad) almost exclusively. To determine exposure, I turn to a Sekonic meter capable of both reflected and incident readings. Exposure times mostly range from eight seconds to a quarter second. Apertures applied are typically between F16 and F45.
